Risa Kaparo, Ph.D.

 

 

Risa Kaparo is an awarding winning poet and songwriter. Her soon to be released debut album, Dawn Begins in the Bones, is already receiving high praise, including a Grand Prize from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and an Honor Award from The Great American Song Contest.
Her poetry and essays appear in many anthologies and journals and her first book, Embrace, was published in 2002 (Scarlet Tanager Books). She teaches creative writing at seminars and graduate schools. Risa performs her one-woman show: Dawn Begins in the Bones... and in concerts around the US. Risa is currently working on a follow-up, Grateful, which will be released in 2009. Her writing has been described as, "…a poetry of soul-making."
Dr. Kaparo's deep commitment to the art of awakening is also reflected in her creation of Somatic Learning?, a self-healing methodology of psychological, somatic, and meditative disciplines.
