David
Tokaji is the frontman and songwriter for Dry September, an LA-based
band at the forefront of rock's New Populism movement. Tokaji writes
songs of resistance, reform, and community--stories of the downtrodden
outcasts and underdogs among us. The band’s crunchy guitars,
vivid storytelling, Hammond organs, and catchy melodies recall some
of rock's boldest artists, past and present: Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello,
Counting Crows, Wilco.
Their latest
CD, entitled Build a New Town, features 10 new tracks. These songs
present characters at their most hungry and most vulnerable, fighting
for dignity during hard times in a hard land. The CD is available
for purchase at www.cdbaby.com/DrySeptember2
Dry September
has been performing regularly throughout Southern California for
the past two years and developed a committed community of followers.
Recent appearances in support of their new album include shows at
Key Club, The Roxy, and The Viper Room.
